The Florida Winery of Madeira Beach is the first winery in the state to bring home "best of class" in the honey wine category along with the "Honey Wine of the Year" trophy for its Pirate Mead from this year's Indy International Wine Competition at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Donations needed for Madeira Beach 9/11 memorial
The city is seeking donations to help with the construction of its new 9/11 memorial. City officials are asking residents to send Home Depot, Visa and MasterCard gift cards to purchase building materials to construct the memorial at Causeway Park. Mail to Sept. 11 Memorial, care of Fire Chief Bill Mallory, 300 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach, FL 33708. There is also a drop box at City Hall. The city hopes to have the memorial for the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on Sunday, Sept. 11.
